Yes, I'm still alive ...

July 2, 2017
Hello everyone,

It seems I've set a trend of writing a blog every two years, and I really should try to rectify this situation. However, for the moment, I'll update you on what's been happening...

Firstly, as has been the case since I started teaching piano, I continue to be fortunate in having a full set of students, with a significant waiting list. I am so lucky to be able to make a living from what I love doing, and I enjoy working hard to get the best out of those people I teach.  I am delighted to report a continued 100% exam pass rate (16 years running!), with some fantastic recent results including a merit at Grade 2 by my oldest pupil (70 years old), and a distinction at Grade 6 by one of my younger students (12 years old).  I also continue to enjoy teaching piano at St. Clare's, Porthcawl, and teaching singing privately at home.

Perhaps the most exciting news is that, in July 2017, Bridgend Tabernacl Choir will give the world premiere of an 18 minute choral work that I wrote as part of my MA at Bristol University.  The piece, entitled 'Nightingales', will be accompanied by a large orchestra, and will also feature critically acclaimed International Soprano soloist, Emily Vine (  This concert will also feature music by Vaughan Williams, plus other music ranging from Sibelius to Simon & Garfunkel.

Some other exciting news also includes a recent commission to write a Chamber Orchestration, and Full Orchestration, for the fantastic piece "O Fab Y Dyn" by the world renowned Welsh Composer, Eric Jones.  My orchestration will be available for hire by the end of 2017, in the UK and across the globe.

In general, work for Llantrisant Male Choir continues to go well (having recently written arrangements of "All of Me" by John Legend, and "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran), as does work for Bridgend Tabernacl Choir.  I have also started an exciting and fun new ladies choir, called "Acabella Singers", but as this has only recently formed, I'll update you about that in 2019 .... ;)

That's it for now!

I'm still alive!

February 22, 2015
Hello Everybody,

I cannot believe it's been such a long time since I wrote a blog!  To say that things have been busy would be a serious understatement!

I'm so lucky that, for at least the last 6 months, I've been totally full with piano students.  It's amazing to be able to play a small part in helping and inspiring the next generation of young musicians.  I consider what I do to be an incredible honour, and want to thank all of the people who come to me for lessons.

I continue to conduct Llant...

Just a brief one

November 10, 2013
Sad to say that I have had to resign as Organist at St. Basil's Church, Bassaleg, on account of the additional travelling time and cost after moving house.  Hoping to find a Church closer to home in the nearer future!

Business is booming...!

Hello everyone!

Firstly, I apologise for it being nearly two months since my last blog update.  However, when you read what's been happening, I'm sure you will understand!

I'm a little unsure where to start, but a good place seems to be with a pupil update.  Since last posting, I have gained a further three piano students.  I now teach 14 pupils a week, and I already have a further 2 in the pipeline.  It really is great to be attracting so many students.  I love being able to share my love and ...

More progress

April 27, 2013
Hello All,

So, it's been a slightly quieter month compared to last.  However, there's still a lot that's been going on.

First and foremost, I've completed my accompanying of A-Level Music Recitals at Barry Comprehensive School.  Whilst this was hard going, all performances went very well and I predict excellent results for all of the incredibly talented pupils.

Secondly, I am delighted to report that I have gained yet another piano student, who is based in Bridgend.  Remember that I am able to h...

March 11, 2013
Hello everybody,

So, here's my latest update - and a lot has happened since my last post!

Firstly, I've been appointed as Organist and Choirmaster of St. Basil's Church, Bassaleg.  It's a lovely, welcoming picturesque Church not far from Newport, and has a fantastic Organ.  If you're in the area on a Sunday, morning services are at 10.00am and you would be more than welcome.

Secondly, I now have ten private pupils.  To have attracted such attention in only two months is fantastic and I am so ple...

So, since my last Blog I have a few updates!

Firstly, I have just been appointed as assistant accompanist and conductor for Cowbridge Male Voice Choir.  This is incredibly exciting, and it will be a real honour to be involved with such an outstanding and incredibly talented group of singers.

Secondly, last night I had a great time playing piano at Brown's in Cardiff.  I'm now waiting to hear back to see if they want to add me to their list of regular pianists - watch this space.

See you ...

Recent Activities!

January 27, 2013

I'm planning to use this Blog as a means to keep you all up-to-date with my current activities as a newly self-employed musician living in Cowbridge.  Although I have only been here for three months, I have already had some success in creating links with local societies.  At the moment, I am rehearsal pianist for Llanharen RFC Songsters.  We rehearse on a Tuesday evening, 7.30 - 9.30 pm at Llanharen Rugby Club and anyone who might want to join would be more than welcome.  In the mean ti...
